About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, facilities management, or winter maintenance services to play a key role in securing and pricing new business opportunities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders, quotations, and cost estimates for grounds maintenance and winter maintenance contracts across both public and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for grounds maintenance and winter maintenance contracts.
Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirements.
Conduct site visits and surveys to assess project scope and resource requirements.
Calculate labour, plant, material, subcontractor, and operational costs.
Develop pricing models and schedules for routine and seasonal maintenance services.
Liaise with operational teams to ensure estimates are practical and deliverable.
Source and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Assist in the preparation of presentations, proposals, and bid documentation.
Maintain an up-to-date database of costs, productivity rates, and supplier information.
Support business development activities by identifying opportunities and contributing to winning strategies.
Ensure all submissions are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Requirements
Essential
Previous experience in an Estimator, Bid Coordinator, Quantity Surveyor, or similar commercial role.
Knowledge of grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, facilities management, or winter maintenance operations.
Strong understanding of tendering and procurement processes.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Experience pricing local authority, housing association, NHS, education, or commercial maintenance contracts.
Knowledge of winter gritting and snow clearance operations.
Experience using estimating or bid management software.
Understanding of grounds maintenance productivity rates and service specifications.
Relevant qualification in horticulture, construction, commercial management, or a related discipline.
