Looking for a hands-on role where your work makes a real impact on site?Join us as a Groundworker / Plant Operative and play a key role in delivering high-quality infrastructure works safely and efficiently.
You’ll support site operations across groundworks, drainage, and plant activities - helping keep projects on track, on spec, and completed to a high standard.
What you’ll do;
Carry out groundworks including drainage installation, excavation, and reinstatement
Install foul and surface water drainage, manholes, and gullies
Lay pipes, set levels, and ensure correct falls to drawings and specifications
Mix, pour, and finish concrete for bases, slabs, footings, and kerbs
Operate plant and use hand tools safely and effectively
Backfill, compact, and reinstate completed works to required standards
Read and work from drawings, plans, and site instructions
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area
Follow all Health & Safety procedures, including PPE and safe systems of work
Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to keep projects moving

What we’re looking for;
Experience in groundworks, including drainage, excavation, and reinstatement
Ability to read drawings, set levels, and follow site instructions
Practical experience with concreting (mixing, placing, finishing)
Understanding of safe working practices on construction sites
Reliable team player with good attention to detail and work standards
Desirable:
Plant tickets (e.g. excavator, dumper, roller)
Experience with shuttering, formwork, or basic steel fixing
Experience working around live services or permit-to-work systems
Relevant site safety training (e.g. First Aid, Manual Handling)
