Head of EV Maintenance
Head of EV Maintenance
Location: London / National
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Shape the future of national EV maintenance and lead a growing business.
Ground Control is expanding its Energy Solutions division, and we're looking for an experienced operational leader to take ownership of our national maintenance function.
This is an opportunity to build and develop a commercially successful maintenance operation, supporting the growth of EV charging infrastructure, Solar PV and air source heat pump (ASHP) services across the UK.
If you're motivated by building high-performing teams, shaping business strategy and seeing the impact of your decisions, this is a role where you can make a lasting difference.
Why this role?
Shape the direction of a growing business – You'll have the autonomy to influence how our national maintenance services are structured, developed and expanded. It's an opportunity to turn your ideas into action, build scalable operations and play a leading role in shaping the future of the division.
Take ownership and make an impact – You'll have responsibility for operational delivery, commercial performance and customer satisfaction. You'll be trusted to make strategic decisions, drive improvements and see the direct results of your leadership on business performance.
Build and inspire high-performing teams – You'll lead an established team with plans for further growth, developing people, strengthening capabilities and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. You'll have the satisfaction of seeing your team succeed and knowing you've played a key role in their development.
Drive growth and create new opportunities – You'll identify opportunities to expand regional coverage, develop new maintenance offerings and strengthen customer relationships. Your commercial insight and ambition will help turn opportunities into sustainable growth, giving you a real stake in the success of the business.
Contribute to a more sustainable future – You'll help develop reliable maintenance services that support the long-term performance of EV charging, solar and renewable energy infrastructure. It's an opportunity to combine commercial leadership with work that contributes to the UK's transition towards lower-carbon energy solutions.
What you'll do:
You'll lead Ground Control's national maintenance operation, taking responsibility for operational performance, commercial growth and the development of scalable maintenance services across EV charging, Solar PV and ASHP systems.
Lead national maintenance operations, overseeing planned and reactive works, directly employed teams and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient and consistent service delivery.
Drive operational performance and improvement, managing scheduling, resources, SLAs, first-time fix rates, quality and customer satisfaction while developing scalable processes and expanding regional coverage.
Develop and grow maintenance services, creating commercially viable planned, reactive and remotely monitored maintenance packages, alongside overseeing remedial works, equipment replacements and small infrastructure projects.
Take commercial ownership, managing budgets, forecasting, pricing, cost control and profitability while identifying opportunities for contract retention, renewals and new business.
Lead customer relationships and service delivery, acting as a senior contact for key clients and overseeing the customer journey from initial enquiry and quotation through to mobilisation, completion and reporting.
Build and develop high-performing teams, recruiting, coaching and supporting colleagues while ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, electrical regulations, manufacturer standards and company procedures.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for a commercially minded operational leader who enjoys building successful teams, improving service delivery and driving sustainable business growth.
Essential:
Proven leadership experience within maintenance, field service or technical operations, ideally across EV charging, electrical, renewables, building services or a related sector.
Experience managing multi-site operations, including directly employed teams, subcontractors and multiple maintenance contracts or projects simultaneously.
Strong commercial and financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and driving profitability.
A track record of improving operational performance, developing processes, increasing efficiency and supporting business growth.
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, develop teams and influence strategic decisions.
Desirable, but not essential:
Experience in EV charging maintenance or installation, Solar PV operations and maintenance, or ASHP service models.
Knowledge of NICEIC, ECA, electrical certification and manufacturer requirements.
Experience working with public-sector, fleet, workplace or framework contracts.
Familiarity with digital field-service systems, remote monitoring and asset reporting.
Experience developing maintenance packages, service agreements or new commercial offerings.
You don't need experience across every technology. We're particularly interested in strong operational leaders with the commercial capability and ambition to develop and grow a successful national maintenance business.
