Help shape landscapes that will thrive for generations.
At Ground Control, we're looking for experienced Landscape Operatives to help deliver soft landscaping and planting works on a major infrastructure project.
This is an opportunity to take pride in work that makes a lasting difference. From planting trees and creating new green spaces to maintaining landscapes as they establish, you'll play an important role in supporting biodiversity and creating environments that will thrive for years to come.
Working as part of a dedicated site team, you'll be hands-on in delivering high-quality landscaping works, ensuring everything is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Why this role?
Your work will have a visible and lasting impact. You'll help transform a major infrastructure site into a greener, more sustainable environment, knowing that the trees and landscapes you establish today will benefit future generations.
You'll be part of a supportive team where quality workmanship matters, with opportunities to develop your skills, take ownership of your work and contribute to a project that makes a genuine environmental difference.
What you'll do
Plant trees, shrubs and whips, ensuring planting is completed to specification and agreed plans.
Interpret and implement landscape construction drawings and specifications, ensuring all planting and soft landscaping works are delivered accurately and in accordance with project requirements.
Prepare planting areas, install stakes, guards, shelters and other protective measures to support healthy growth.
Maintain newly planted landscapes, including watering, weeding, mulching, pruning and replacing failed plants.
Carry out grass cutting, strimming, brush cutting and general soft landscaping activities.
Monitor plant health, identify issues and help ensure new planting establishes successfully.
Work closely with Site Supervisors and colleagues to deliver works safely and on schedule.
Follow site health and safety procedures, including RAMS, PPE requirements and environmental protection measures.
Maintain accurate daily work records and keep work areas safe, clean and tidy.
What we're looking for
A valid CSCS card is essential (Green Labourer Card minimum, or appropriate equivalent) and must be held from your first day.
Previous experience in tree planting, soft landscaping and establishment maintenance, ideally on construction or infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of common trees, shrubs and weeds, alongside good planting and maintenance practices.
Proven ability to read, understand and work from landscape construction drawings and specifications, accurately translating plans into practical on-site landscaping works.
Confidence using landscaping equipment, including strimmer’s, brush cutters, mowers and hand tools.
A good understanding of site health and safety procedures.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and carrying out physically demanding tasks.
Reliable, hardworking and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Able to understand site instructions, follow planting plans and travel to site for early starts.
Desirable, but not essential:
PA1/PA6 or PA6AW pesticide qualifications.
Lantra brush cutter or strimmer certification.
Level 2 qualification in Horticulture or Landscaping.
Emergency First Aid at Work.
Full UK manual driving licence, ideally with B+E towing entitlement.
Knowledge of BS 4428 and BS 8545 landscaping and tree establishment standards.
