Ground Control is embarking on an exciting journey to build and expand our Ecology team, and we're looking to connect with passionate ecology professionals who want to play a key role in shaping its future.
Whether you're an Assistant Ecologist looking for your next step, an experienced Ecologist ready to take on greater responsibility, or a Senior/Principal Ecologist seeking the opportunity to influence and grow a team, we'd love to hear from you.
Working alongside our established environmental, landscaping, arboriculture and infrastructure teams, you'll have the opportunity to support a wide range of projects across the UK, helping clients deliver biodiversity improvements, rewilding initiatives, habitat creation and protected species management.
Opportunities Available
Assistant Ecologists
Ideal for individuals looking to develop their ecology career within a supportive and growing environment.
You could be involved in:
Habitat and UK Habitat Classification surveys
Protected species surveys
Biodiversity Net Gain and rewilding projects
Ecological Clerk of Works duties
Technical report writing and mitigation solutions
Managing projects and assisting with fee proposals
Building strong client relationships
Consulting Ecologists
We're looking for experienced ecologists who enjoy combining technical excellence with project delivery.
Responsibilities may include:
UK Habitat Classification and protected species surveys
Producing PEA, BNG, protected species and ecological impact reports
Project and financial management
Developing tender submissions and fee proposals
Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists
Providing practical ecological and legislative advice
Senior & Principal Ecologists
An exciting opportunity to help build, develop and influence a growing ecology function.
You will have the opportunity to:
Lead complex ecological projects from inception to completion
Manage client relationships and commercial delivery
Oversee technical quality and project profitability
Mentor and develop ecological professionals
Support business growth and service development
Provide expert ecological and legislative guidance
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with individuals who:
Hold a relevant ecology or environmental degree
A member of CIEEM (Qualifying, Associate, Full Membership or Chartered status)
Hold at least one protected species license (desirable)
Previous experience with field surveys (except if graduate)
Have excellent knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, Law and Biodiversity Net Gain
Produce high-quality technical reports
Enjoy working collaboratively with clients and colleagues
Have strong communication and organisational skills
Hold a full UK driving licence
