The Operations Support Analyst delivers data-driven solutions and operational reporting across the Infrastructure business. Acting as a subject matter expert in systems such as WoodPlan and tools within the Microsoft ecosystem, this role supports the business by ensuring data integrity, developing automated reporting solutions, and improving data workflows.
What you’ll do:
Respond to data-related requests via JIRA and email from internal stakeholders.
Investigate and resolve data quality issues independently or in collaboration with Commercial, Operational, and Support teams.
Act as the subject matter expert for WoodPlan, identifying and proposing functionality improvements.
Liaise with software engineering teams to refine and implement system enhancements.
Test and validate software or hardware updates to ensure quality and operational readiness.
Write and manage SQL scripts and stored procedures to support reporting and automation.
Automate workflows and reporting processes using Power Automate and Microsoft Scripting tools.
Provide technical support for tablet-based data capture and mobile reporting tools.
Ensure timely and accurate client reporting, tailored to contract and operational needs.
Support the collection of business requirements through document and workflow analysis.
Identify opportunities to improve processes or procedures and design practical, efficient solutions.
Contribute to new and existing application development by undertaking defined programming and coding tasks.
Draft and maintain clear, high-quality technical and user documentation
Manage reactive workloads and adapt priorities in response to changing business needs, including handling unexpected tasks as they arise.
What we’re looking for;
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Data Analytics & Business Intelligence: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret datasets, identify trends, and generate actionable insights using tools such as Power BI, Excel, and SQL
Data Lineage & Traceability: Skilled in mapping the end-to-end flow of data from source to transformation to output.
SQL Development: Experience in writing, optimising, and maintaining SQL queries.
Power Platform Expertise: Experience developing workflows and automations using Power Automate
Business Requirements: Ability to elicit, document, and analyse business requirements through document review, workflow analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
Data Control: Knowledge of data governance principles and experience maintaining data integrity, security, and accuracy across systems and reports.
Process Improvement: Skilled at identifying inefficiencies in processes or systems and designing streamlined, scalable solutions to improve business performance.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders effectively
Adaptability: Quick to adapt to new technologies, systems, and processes.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
Experience using bespoke applications like WoodPlan (or similar systems)
Knowledge of the Utilities sector.
