About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Arboricultural Surveyor to join our growing Southern team, supporting a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, utility, and development projects across the South of England.

This is a predominantly field-based role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, identifying and assessing trees, collecting accurate survey data, and contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile projects.

You will work closely with our Arboricultural Consultants and wider environmental teams, carrying out a range of tree surveys and inspections that provide essential information to support planning, development, and asset management.

What you’ll do

You will undertake a wide range of arboricultural surveying activities, including:

• Carrying out BS5837:2012 tree surveys to support development and planning projects

• Completing Visual Tree Assessments (VTA) and general tree condition surveys

• Recording accurate tree data using digital surveying equipment and specialist software

• Identifying tree species, defects, physiological condition, and management requirements

• Collecting measurements including tree height, stem diameter, crown spread, and site constraints

• Supporting decay detection and further tree investigations where required

• Assisting with tree protection monitoring and site inspections during construction phases

• Liaising with consultants, clients, site teams, and project stakeholders

• Ensuring all survey work is completed safely, accurately, and to a high professional standard

No two days are the same, and you’ll be involved in a variety of sites ranging from urban developments and infrastructure schemes to utilities and environmental projects.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience undertaking arboricultural surveys and inspections

• Good working knowledge of BS5837:2012 surveys and tree assessment principles

• A qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related discipline (Level 3, Level 4, or higher desirable)

• LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection qualification (desirable)

• Strong tree identification skills and understanding of common defects and disorders

• Experience using digital survey systems and associated software

• A good understanding of health and safety requirements when working on sites

• CSCS and/or ROLO certification (desirable)

• A full UK driving licence (clean)

• A proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
