Senior Quantity Surveyor (6-Month Contract)

Contract Type: Full time, 6 month contract
Typical Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday (or equivalent)
Due to the creation of a new business unit at Ground Control, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a 6-month contract. This is a key commercial role, responsible for overseeing large-scale landscape construction projects within a designated region, ensuring strong financial performance and successful project delivery.
What you’ll do;
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in driving profitability and maintaining robust commercial control across multiple projects. Working closely with Project Managers and the wider commercial team, you will ensure accurate reporting, effective cost management, and contractual compliance.
Financial Management & Reporting
Manage project budgets and ensure profitability targets are achieved
Produce accurate weekly cost reports and monthly financial reporting
Carry out cost and value reconciliation (CVR), identifying risks and opportunities
Provide cost forecasts and manage variances against budget
Commercial & Contractual Control
Prepare and submit monthly valuations, ensuring full entitlement is captured
Manage change control processes, including variations and Additional Instructions (AIs)
Liaise with client-side Quantity Surveyors to agree valuations and contract changes
Support delay analysis and draft contractual notices where required
Procurement & Subcontractor Management
Lead subcontractor procurement, including tendering and package preparation
Support procurement scheduling and ensure timely material call-offs
Review and process subcontractor accounts and payment certificates
Monitor labour costs, reviewing timesheets and invoices
Project Support & Governance
Conduct site measurements and validate quantities against drawings
Maintain accurate document control across all commercial records
Attend contract review meetings and provide financial insights
Identify and mitigate commercial risks, preventing disputes and late payments

What we’re looking for;
You’ll be an experienced Quantity Surveyor ideally within landscape or construction projects within a subcontracting or main contractor environment. In addition, you will have experience managing procurement programmes and subcontractor relationships
You’ll be degree or professionally qualified (RICS or equivalent experience) with a strong background in cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting as well as a solid knowledge of contract law, procurement, and change management.
Excellent analytical and organisational skills are a must as well as being a confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
