Location: Wessex (Reading, Eastleigh, Basingstoke)

Are you a hands-on Site Supervisor or Site Manager who takes ownership of safety, standards, and delivery on live rail infrastructure?
At Ground Control, we’re looking for a strong operational leader to take full control of vegetation management sites across the Network Rail infrastructure. This role is about being present, leading from the front, and ensuring every site is safe, compliant, and delivered on programme.
The Role
You will take full responsibility for day-to-day site supervision, ensuring works are set up correctly, teams are briefed properly, and activities are delivered safely and on schedule.
You will be the person who:
Ensures every site is safe to work on before works commence
Leads daily briefings and task-based risk assessments
Oversees vegetation clearance operations on live rail infrastructure
Monitors productivity and drives delivery in line with programme
Maintains high standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance
Acts as the primary point of contact on site for Network Rail representatives
Ensures RAMS and WPPs are understood, implemented, and adhered to
Identifies issues early and takes action to prevent delays
Completes site records, inspections, and close-out documentation accurately and on time
Conducts regular safety inspections and audits
This is a delivery-led role. You will be accountable for ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with agreed timelines.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Proven experience supervising works within the rail industry
Strong working knowledge of Network Rail standards and processes
PTS certification
Experience leading site teams in high-risk environments
Confident delivering site briefings and implementing RAMS
Strong understanding of HSE and CDM regulations
Ability to manage programme delivery and drive productivity on site
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable:
COSS certification
SMSTS or equivalent
Experience using Sentinel and Network Rail reporting systems
First Aid
Arboricultural or environmental qualifications
