As a Site Agent/Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of projects, maintaining safety and environmental compliance, and driving client satisfaction. Your leadership will enable our teams to deliver technical excellence, meet project milestones, and contribute to our company’s success.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Graduate Geotechnical Engineer in the Ground Investigation sector supports the delivery of ground investigation and geotechnical engineering projects by assisting with site work, data analysis, and reporting. The role provides firsthand experience in field operations and technical development under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise site investigation activities including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Support site supervision activities, ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Log soil and rock samples in accordance with BS5930 and company procedures.
- Contribute to the preparations of factual geotechnical reports.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during site activities.
- Maintain accurate site records, photographs, and data logs.
- Support senior engineers in project delivery and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in training and development activities to build technical and professional skills.
- Support senior engineers in delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
2. Client Engagement
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Maintain open communication with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns, following consultations with assigned supervisor/s.
- Build strong client relationships to foster trust and drive repeat business.
3. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
- Assist management team with promoting a culture of safety by ensure yourself and colleagues are complying with safety procedures and rules.
- Ensure environmental practices align with company policies, including waste reduction and energy efficiency.
4. Team Development & Leadership
- Lead by example, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
What we’re looking for:
Essentials
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (BSc or MSc), or a related field.
- Some prior experience (e.g., internship, placement, or summer work) in ground investigation or construction (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
- Sufficient understanding of UK ground conditions, geology, and geotechnical standards (e.g., Eurocode 7, BS5930).
- Experience in geotechnical software (e.g., HoleBASE SI, gINT, AGS data formats).
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Familiarity with UK geotechnical standards (e.g., BS5930, Eurocode 7) is an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred for site work).
Desirables
- Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., HoleBASE SI, gINT, AGS formats).
- Awareness of environmental and contaminated land considerations.
- Enthusiasm for working outdoors and in varied site conditions.
